I’m trying to keep the lights on
trying not to slam shut or drop into shock

but I am having to struggle, it’s a bit like before
I’m holding myself up and bracing the door
too late it’ll show, and you’ll be long gone

I find it so hard to believe
you’d want me to fall
stop a short while
and then say
“Well, um, I guess that was all.”
