Staying on track

Sometimes being stuck on something is good
like when I can't get a piece out of my head
how many times I can play that spot or that entire thing
in the course of a few hours or over several weeks
months, it might be
my obsession for as long as I don't quite have it to my satisfaction
it may not even be the most important thing to work on
at the moment
but it's got me, and I keep pounding it out
fixing this, trying that, changing the angle of a finger or hand
move my wrist differently?
change the pedalling?
maybe it'd be better if it was graceful first and
then relentless
somedays it might be playfully soft
just because it's gotten so fluent
but I'm still stuck on it because it's
not all it could be and I love it
I love it!
and I'm stuck on it
obsession isn't bad in a case like that
it drives a person to stay with it
push that rock up the hill
I love interest that won't let me
let it go
I love being caught by something wonderful
