Dark creatures that haunt, hitting walls
bouncing across the cavern, blind
so hunger for energy, these bats
they could squeeze the urge to create out of the space
a pile of oranges, once so lovely on the table
stick 'em in the juicer and there's not much left!
slimy skins, ugly pulp, messy lump
tasteless without their bright blood

It is about how fears and worries can sap a person's energy.

Bats in the cave are the thoughts flying around and bumping in the walls. :)
