Birds

I saw some birds today
while we, the boys and me,
were walking in the country
on a quiet rail trail

the birds lifted off the ground
a few of them, maybe nine?
and they were in a bunch for a bit
but then they spread into formation

I wonder how they learn to do it?
is it even learned?
is it the air currents?
I don't know,
but it looks magical when they do it

When my little bird passed over, he spread his wings majestically, raised his head and, to my eyes, embraced a light in front of him. An aura grew from him and I had a real sense almost of a rainbow. At the very, very least, he had to my belief a near death experience and he went for oneness with beyond; but I felt his energy move beyond him in that moment. I went from being a "healthy sceptic" to a believer in the immortality of life energy, from that moment. Birds know so much more than that for which we credit them. If any creature is Chosen, then they are.

Thank you for your poem, justam. :)

love the descriptive thought process behind this.
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
    (Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes
    (And function)
    Function is the key
