I learn so much
from guiding younger people
it’s so interesting to me how I can pour myself into
many ears
and yet they can go in so many directions!
My favorite students run with what they get
they absorb what they need to
and use it
and they move at a fast pace
they work
they try
they think about how to do what I show them
then there are others that have to be dragged
I pull ‘em
I push ‘em
I carry them
tell them the same-damn-things
over and over
twenty or forty different ways
and maybe they still don’t hear!
or they are LAZY and don’t bother to practice
It’s so true that the ones that thrive
put a lot into themselves
they don’t just lie there
like jello or mud
they do more than half the job themselves
I love those kids!!
They’re a good reminder about effort and results

Well, I was just thinking about this today because I had a student who totally blew it today...because of a whole year of doing nothin'...
And that was in sharp contrast to a young woman I love who always goes beyond herself and won something today.
P.S. Why do you call yourself "drunkcow"?
