blue and red glow-sticks
skittishly disturbing the dark
folding chairs and blankets
spread all over the park
chaos & kiddies standing in line
music too noisy & not any good!
a wonky-old-ferris-wheel
beer, lemonade, and horrible fried food
suffered for the sight that I like from it all...
fireworks that sparkle, sputter, bang & boom
with the best ones looking like
gold waterfalls hanging up near the moon

You make me miss the fourth of July...I am in Thailand and didnt have the opportunity to celebrate...

You know? I didn't look! Next firework flying type holiday in the States, I'll have to take a lake walk and see. US holidays always seem to fall a few days after our celebrations so, I'd not spot them when I head out to see the Canadian 'works. Dang, now I have to wait for the next holiday!!!
aahhhhh
ohhhhhh
we blow em off in the street... we've been doing it for a few years now, and it's becoming a celebration of sorts.... kinda like a block party. we've got 5 houses in on it now. (even had em singing the national anthem last night :D:D ~ well, the older ones, anyway)
i hate those crowds. i won't do 'em with kids in tow. but we used to live in DC, and we'd go to the Iwogima (sp?) Memorial and have a blast watching the National Display over the monuments and the river. holy moly, what fun?!
These small town fireworks really can't compare to those evenings you might see in a good-sized city, but they are pleasant anyway...and they suggest the beauty so I still like them.
