noses, faces, and knives

there's an old phrase
to cut off a nose to spite a face
what about cutting off my hand because I
was starting at shadows &
fucking-clumsy-tired?
what about stabbing the person I love most because
I was afraid?
is that like cutting off my nose?
it seems far worse!
