Why do people feel like boxing others up?
so-and-so is nice
Sam is mean
that guy's cute
Sally is a bitch
Holly is stupid and lazy
Is it our responsibility to project
only the qualities we want others to see?
Is it no business of ours if people assume
a narrowness that doesn't exist?
Is it our responsibility to object when
we're put in a box
or should we just climb out when
no one is looking?
Do we actually crawl into them on our own?

oh, please, be easy to understand...
God, I hate having to even worry about
what people see in my behavior when
all they see is through a slit in a carton

    i've read that we can't know ourselves without other people
    that, we can't know who we are without someone else to compare ourselves to

    oh, and absolutely... without fail... nobody can assess who we are on the fly... fer pete's sake it took me forever to figure out who i am.

    i think little kids know, though

    i wish we could figure out how to keep them from forgetting

    I believe we do not see ourselves the way others do. The good or the bad sides.
    Come on and play on the edge of life with me. Its fun and I love every minute of it!!!

    oh yes, I agree! we see ourselves from our intent and outward, everyone else sees our presentation... they're sometimes very different things

    I think it's true that we don't see ourselves as others do, but also, I believe people see things the way they want to and are judgemental.

    I'd be sorely offended, perhaps to the point of spitting, if anyone said the stuff I say to myself. And, if I'd been drinking? There might be a brawl!
