    i agree.
however, would you explain to me the very last bit?
    built in from birth.
what is built in from birth, exactly?
i am grasping the negative rather than the positive in that last bit.
maybe i am reading this wrong.
is why i am asking you to explain.

    "Hear me, my chiefs!
I am tired; my heart is
    sick and sad. From where
the sun stands I will fight
    no more forever."

chadwick, the end does come out sounding a bit negative and I don't mean it to be.

This is what I'm getting at...and please don't hate me for these comparisons-- :D

Some animals have pairing mechanisms that make them do specific things. For example, penguins have to take care of an egg with their feet for quite a few months while the other half of the pair does some kind of snow trek...(I forget why)...these behaviors are species specific, but can be generalized in the sense that individuals aren't making a decision about these behaviors.

I think humans have bonding mechanisms that can be activiated. This makes people feel in love, and stay in love if the relationship does not get complicated by external forces. There are chemicals and feelings which bond people together. I think in humans, our brains and modern lifestyles disguise the truth of the matter...that we are animals that bond with physical attraction and it either becomes a successful bonding or an unsuccessful one, but our activation of this part of ourselves is not so different from the mechanism that activates other animals.

Does that sound unromantic? It's not, it's just complicated with humans I think. :D

What I was talking about with young people is the fact that advertisers have learned that they can catch children young and connect these feelings to products. This messes up their recognition of feelings and disguises the real function of them.

(Also, I think many adults play with their own mechanisms and actually mess up their ability to bond strongly to their spouses.)

This is probably more information than you needed. :)

  • very interesting.

I shall read this one several times....

    love your explanation to

    bravo
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
    (Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes
    (And function)
    Function is the key

I feared this would be a very unpopular opinion I put up. :p

  • I believe they go on a food march....mmmmmmm....supplements

and, so what if it sounds negative...the truth usually does...see my signature...hmm...my old signature anyways

"Every now and then man stumbles upon the truth but then turns around and hurries off as if nothing has happened"

said by a wiser man than I.

yeah...it sounds negative to essentially say that we humans brainwash one another from before we are born, but, we do!

I get sickened by it. Few people truly know how to think for themselves. I mean the brain is a biological computer. Computers require programming. Sometimes computers are simply programmed by the wrong people/data.

I wasn't thinking of brainwashing at all, I was thinking that these behaviors are wired into us and when they are set-in-motion and they follow a somewhat predictable course.

Yes, but it goes hand in hand...like the quote says with advertisements. Yes, I agree, I do believe that there is a natural mechanism or two that have just not been activated in most people. It is not activated because society has never looked at that as a responsibility, so if they do not teach/explore t, then other aspects are. If one area is essentially skipped to focus on other areas then that is the way people have chosen to program said individual. This is brainwashing...intensional or not.

Now, if we we taught this in or youths, then we would be brainwashed into utilizing these mechanisms and not others...perhaps the mechanism that tells humans to explore knowledge and attempt to advance technologically as a society would be overlooked...then we may not have internet, TV, cars, etc.

it is a no win argument. kinda a 'the grass is always greener' scenario, but it is something that has always frustrated/bothered me.

hope there was some clarity in my rambling.
