Sleep

That activity called sleep
we're forced to take it as a crucial part of life
for we can't live without it
but why do we fall apart if we don't get enough?
why do our minds start melting, unraveling, hurting?
is sleep all about recharging our delicate electrical channels?
I could have fallen asleep with my eyes open today
so tired was I
and yet I had to require myself to concentrate anyway
I thought my head would explode by the evening
thank goodness, it didn't
and no migraine descended
so sweet dreams
dead to the world
a flag in the wind
she's out
at the repair shop
