Selling a soul to the devil
that one traded his soul for it
hmmm...
sounds overly dramatic but
what if we could see souls
as they were doled out bit by bit?
what if the energy could be measured
and not just invisibly felt?
he gives this for that
another receives 2 buckets of soul for--
trading it, giving energy away
sounds so story-like without having solidity
but what if we could see it?
touch it?
then the bargaining wouldn't feel so sordid
the devil would have a face
and a butt to kick if
one was angry about the terms
of the deal

No, I'm actually talking about how people use or give away their life energy. This is just the surface of a bigger train of thought.

I was thinking about how the cost of doing things doesn't always become apparent right away or isn't visible so people don't realize what certain activities are truly taking from them.

I was thinking that if it was more solid somehow (the energy exchange and the unpleasant cost) people wouldn't be caught feeling awful and in cycles they didn't expect.

It depends on why a person might be creative and put so much energy into their work. For me, it's to atone for any wrongs I might have done in life, and to leave something behind me that's comforting to others. It's a kind of purgatory on earth, but not an altogether unpleasant one. I feel less worried about leaving this world, hoping there's something I've done that might make people feel better about their day.

This is an interesting thing to point out. Thanks for the thought. :)
