the ground shook around them
the epicenter of an earthquake
off the scale as we know it
they ran for a shelter
that wasnt to be found
the first surge crashed
for days without end
wave upon wave of fighter planes
brought a tidal pool of death and destruction
bombs flooded down upon a third world nation
back home in america
people cheered the images on their screens
fuck the towel heads that die in this tsunami

the after shocks still reverberate
more than a year past
the first seismic disturbance hit the region
wave after wave of suicide bombers
crashing the shores
bringing a tidal pool of death and destruction
upon a third world nation
across the muslim world
people cheer the images on their screens
fuck the infidels and their puppets
who die in this tsunami

mother had enough
she showed the boys
how to play a mans game
in a few moments time
she brought a tidal pool of death and destruction
to several third workd nations
collectively nations paused and wept
then reached out to help
bodies floating in the oceans
the tsunami receded back to sea

somewhere in the desert
a soldier wipes the tears
as he sees the images on his screen
then grabs his gun
to start the days patrol

somewhere in the desert
an insurgent says a prayer
for his muslim brother dying in the waves
then straps a bomb onto his chest
and takes his final breaths

as the images
of death and destruction
from these swells
fill our tv screens
does anyone still shed a tear?

and btw, nice meeting you in toledo. :)
i suggest you step out on your porch
run away my son...see it all...oh see the world
  • it truly is brilliant...well done. great and thought-provoking words.
i'll ride the wave where it takes me
  • It's been a constant stream of thought for me over the last week or so, how bereaved the human race has been over such total and utter destruction of our fellow people. I am one of them. At a time like this, we are all simply human beings. And yet, just across the water, we justify the deliberate destruction of not our fellow people, but of our so-called enemy. I just dont understand it.

I think we as a species, need to take a long hard look at the animal kingdom. They so totally have it right. It's interesting to note that very few animals have been found dead among the debris. The way I look at it, the answer to this mystery is pretty easy. Animals act on nothing but instinct. The live with need, and nothing else. They are not caught up with want or desire. Their minds and their hearts are not cluttered or blinded with greed, so their spirits are free to feel every instinct. They are more alive and more free and more content with the most simplistic life that we humans have no clue about. And we are the supposed superior species? I think not........

The start for me at least, is to stop confusing the things I want with the things I need.
  • your way with words always amazes me.
    You ask me to enter
But then You make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
    To what You got
When all You've got is hurt
    ----
    Underneath this smile lies everything
All my hopes and anger, pride and shame
