He said, "yes, but... are you happy?"
My moment's pause enough
to convey my answer, however...
spoken answers are somewhat expected
in the circles I traverse.

"Sometimes", I replied.
And he told me he liked my eyes.

My eyes, the transporter into the depth of me.
The sense I use to talk without talking,
without realizing, really, I speak at all.
The gray blue green bottom of me.

My happiness is mine.
As is my sadness
most of the time.

The difference being the difference.

Yes, this was beautiful, even if beautifully sad. They eyes are an unbridled gateway to the soul. Only way to stop them is to wear sunglasses.

I don't get the first two lines. It seems like he's answering a question that he asked you. So, did you start off asking if he was happy and that's when he said, "yes, but...are you happy?" and that's when you pause? What am I missing??????

I also have a bottom. It's not blue, though.

I'm guessing it's one of those things where "he" asks if "you're" happy, and "you" say you are, but it's one of those nonbelievable yes's. so "he" asks again.

I do it all the time. Don't believe happiness, that is.

just writing like i talk

i was having lunch today with a gentleman who looked like he needed to talk

we talked

he told me what was wrong with him
and he's been privy to what's going on with me
and the choice I've made to leave my marriage

and that's when he asked me if I was happy
he said "yes, but ... are you happy?"

and I had to think about it...

which says something without saying anything at all

feelings come and go, you know? i honor my happiness when i have it, which isn't infrequently, you know? i'm generally pretty happy... not all the time... but like a multi-vitamin... hopefully once a day
