i'm currently reading the final volume of s.k.'s dark tower series, so, granted, i do not know how it pans out, but last night i was compelled to write this poem and thought i'd share it here with y'all. here goes:

ka (for roland)

in an empty shell that's cracked and broke
lungs turned black and filled with smoke
a bloody red heart beats fast
a dying man breathes his dying gasp

and speaks:

my son, he says, i've failed you so
i've steered you wrong; this i know
forgive me now, but don't forget
the things i've done, which i regret

i failed you once and let you fall
and still you heard the tower's call
forgive me son, but don't forget
ka's a wheel; we were ka-tet

these words came in a coughing rasp
a dying man's final gasp
that fell upon the whipping wind
a man alone, without a friend.

  • By far my favorite books. what part are you at yet?

(Man I was so upset when it ended, that there was nothing left to read. King outdid himself with the dark tower series)

    also my favorite books...

as for where i am, susannah and roland have just left the castle of the red king, about to enter the white lands of empathica (if i understand correctly). almost the end of the 7th book... i am afraid but anxious to finish it. tomorrow will be interesting, battling homework vs the dark tower.
