the reprise

my days are painted in shades of gray
this cloud above me is here to stay
keeping the sun from shining on me
it seems that the world and I disagree

i swore i saw a glimmer the other night
and i must say if gave me a fright
i opened and strained my eye to find
hoping it would ease my state of mind

in the end there was nothing to be seen
so i put my heart back on the trampoline
and took a step back to watch with you
the ride that my heart knows is due

maybe one day i'll get my time
to shine and have my prime
but until then i'll close my eyes
and fight against the reprise
-one thing to remember, always have a good time, all the time
