I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!
Yup. I was stuck in training all week and haven't had much time for the poetry forum! Sorry, ya'll. From the sounds of it, I missed some action, and the goodbye of a friend... which sucks... but anyway... here's something that has nothing to do with that. It actually has everything to do with a friend of mine whom I spoke with the other night. She never ceases to amaze me with how her mind works. So here is my ode to her.

I think she won the Nobel Prize once
or a Pulitzer
She'd found a way to live in her own imagination
Out of nothing, really
Just one day found a way
Told me once that dead can dance
Early summer by the oaks
by the library
by the by
and I laughed, shook it off
knowing death in her poem danced not a step
Just commanded lament
whispered it
promised it
But her imagination burned on
Won a Pulitzer, I think
Maybe it only should have
and I was just too drunk by it to know any better
but regardless, I asked her what the rent was like
I'd considered moving in
getting lost
fingering awards with her
like so many broken seashells
earning a smile and a nod
and a pitch back to the surf
I'd always liked the neighborhood
and I'd always envied the view
so I asked of vacancies and she smiled
nodded in regretless lament at my bemusement
and pitched my awe to the surf

I think that's a pretty cool song... so you should consider that a complement, even if you hate sheryl crow or something
By the way... I've went to both camden shows this year too, that's too cool
Sheryl Crow is one of those artists that would be a guilty pleasure if I had any guilty pleasures. As it stands, I have none of her CDs, but I make it a point to not change the radio station if I hear her.
So yes, I'll take it as a compliment... especially since I like her lines better than mine.
Mmm... Camden shows. I was watching the fireworks glitter off of downtown Philadelphia on the 5th... jammin' to Rockin' in the Free World smack dab in the middle of the first set. It was one of those beautiful moments.
It's good to be back.
Yah, my favorite part is the awards as seashells part. Just as pretty, just as plentiful, just as arbitrary, just as unneeded.
Actually, I also like the whole implied part of my awe being one of these awards to her. Idunno... It's been a while since I wrote something that I was proud of... get my drift?
Riding the waves...:)
this one has a certain kind of smile to it that i don't know if we've seen from you yet.
we've missed you around here.
Indeed... as you'll see by the date, it's one of the few recent ones I've posted... all the others are a year or more old when I was a different (darker) person.
Trying to give ya some CranMalFlava!
mmmmmmmm....is that what that was? cranmalflava?
i like it, the more flava the better.
Yo, yo, yo - Fight the power!
Oh, wait, that's Flava-Flav!
You don't happen to wear a giant clock around your neck and sport a mouth full of gold teeth, do you?
I do have a grandfather clock tied around my neck. Pain in the ass to fit in the car when I'm coming to work.
LOL! And how do your co-workers react when it chimes every hour, on the hour?
Imagine if someone was in the stall beside you in the can and then all of a sudden--BONG, BONG, BONG, BONG...
Hee! Hee!
I usually only go to the bathroom just before every hour... that way the "BONG BONG BONG!" drowns out the ass symphony I usually have to endure from my coworkers.
Da-da-da-da-da
Fart-Fart-Bong-Splash
Da-da-da-da-da
Unh-Bong-Splash-Splash
Da-da-da-Bong-Splash-Fart-Bong-Splash-Splash-Bong-Fart-Splash-Bong-Wipe-Wipe-Wipe-Wipe
FLUSH!
That brought a tear to my eye!
That stinky, huh?
