This is officially the 2nd thread ever to have a title which contains my name. But it doesn't count since I created it.
Anyway... Ali's "Eternity" reminded me of my own "Eternity"... and I didn't want to mooch in on her thread and make it seem like I was trying to take away from her poetry (this is a habit I'm trying to break)... so here's my own.

I don't think we do need other people to make us feel whole. I think the need comes from not understanding, respecting, and loving yourself as a whole person. None of us are half people. We are all whole. It's when we let ourselves be defined in terms of someone else that we start to lose our own identities and we teeter precariously close to the end and the edge when that person leaves.
I say this because I know this. I was the very same way. I honestly can't say what changed me, though I have ideas. I am my own whole beautiful human being. Everyone else is a relationship... no matter how important... without them, I am still Tim Lenz... without them, I am still me.
I think everything I just said just completely made everything worse. Yet I'm still going to hit the "Submit Reply" button. Because I believe sometimes it's the best thing to do.
I've lost friends because I believe that.
