The song is called "Raimee"
I just want to know if you understand the story of it. Thanks in advance

The sun was sinking fast that day as the whole town fell asleep
Peace and quiet was all they had but it never came that cheap
Little children were in their beds comforted by dreams
The whole town like a fairytale where nothing's what it seems

In the next county over an outlaw come to roam
By the name of Raimee that everybody knows
He had a wife and seven kids but he left them at home
As he made his way to the town to serve a lethal dose

The sheriff made his usual way driving throught the town
He did not see anything nobody made a sound
In this town no one got away the sheriff stood so proud
The princess stayed up late wearing the king's crown

The air was cold that night as Raimee was on his way
To the only house on the street where the princess stayed
She was the most famous person starring in every play
But she had her own dreams and had to get away

She took a walk outside wearing a thick and heavy coat
When she ran into Raimee who then began to boast
About the places that he's been and where he's 'bout to go
"As soon as the money comes," He said, "I'm headed for the coast"

She was so impressed with him she asked to come along
"Sure," said Raimee, "If you don't mind me singin' my favorite song"
Fame and fortune were the only thing that both of them sought
Raimee said, "But first we must make a couple stops"

They walked down to the bank surrounded by the lights
But there were no gaurds that could be seen anywhere in sight
They went around to the backside where all the outlaws hide
In fact, another one was there so they began to fight

The one pulled out a gun while Raimee was unarmed
The princess knew that one of them would no doubt be harmed
He pulled the trigger and Raimee died in the princess' arms
Then she and him made off with his haul in his getaway car

The sirens were ringing louder now the sheriff drove up fast
How they got away from him he would never grasp
All the way out of town the princess and the outlaw laughed
By the time the morning came they were already three towns past

As the sun was coming up everything was how it seemed
It was all peace and quiet just like in their dreams
The king woke up without his wife he prayed down on his knees
"Oh please, my Lord, let her one day come back to me"
"I'm a thief, and I dig it"

That was very sad and so very wrong. Well written but disturbing.
  • yeah, but you understood the story? cuz I left out a lot of little details that I thought the song could do without

Lots of greed, murder, and betrayal sounds like to me. What parts did you leave out?
  • well really just the part where I tell why Raimee is leaving his family and why the king didn't want to leave the town in order for the princess to follow her dreams.
    "I'm a thief, and I dig it"
  • i understand the story if that's what you're asking.

at least i think i understand it... might have missed something.

was it kind of bob dylan - esque...?

as in.. no real, definite meaning.. just a story?

that's what i'm getting out of it.

i'd be interested to hear how that song would sound.
Come on pilgrim you know he loves you..
