Some folks ain't born to die, but rather born to live their life
In the morning close their eyes and open them up in the midst of the night
Who'll never find Heaven for they're afraid of flight
Who'll live in fear of what might have been
When he returns on Earth and then
He heals the wounded and gives the blind sight
And my children won't be
Slaves, when born they'll be free
Some folks ain't born to live for they are only born to die
Who'll never see the ocean and who'll never feel the sky
And folks are finding it hard to survive
in the flooding rivers coming up quick
Treading high waters so they don't sink
They'll sit down and watch the world pass them by
And my children won't be
Slaves, when born they'll be free
The highway's been torn and the sun's beating down
There's no way in and no way out of this town
Somewhere out there a king's wearing a crown
And his queen's been left out to hang
Out in the lightning, thunder and rain
The clash of the waves roaring a deafening sound
And my children won't be
Slaves, when born they'll be free
The sky it is free through all of it's colors
Though much of it's red through the eyes of the others
As they head off to fight to kill one another
So someone can earn a little more
At the price of a civil war
Spending millions just to make one more dollar
And my children won't be
Slaves, when born they'll be free
In the morning close their eyes and open them up in the midst of the night
Who'll never find Heaven for they're afraid of flight
Who'll live in fear of what might have been
When he returns on Earth and then
