"Tomorrow's A Long Ways Away"

Perhaps if tomorrow was not a broken ocean
Them maybe the sun wouldn't set so soon
And I could stand up on the highest mountain
Reach up and touch the moon
And all the pretty people below my feet
Would not exactly how it feels to be incomplete
But you'll just have to wait for one more day
Because tomorrow's such a long ways away

I see you've got your picture of Edgar Allen Poe
Cracked down the middle hanging crooked on your wall
I've packed all my things but I'll be seeing you again
So when I'm gone please don't think of me at all
You've read through Kerouac's "On The Road"
You think you've found some secret or a truth that it told
But I think you're gonna find that with each new passing day
That tomorrow is such a long ways away

Maybe if the rain hadn't scorned my face
Then perhaps I might not know of any pain
Like the two-headed gypsy riding backwords on the train
Covered up in blankets and wrapped around in chains
Looking out the window at every broken home
Lying to herself that she's never been alone
She never goes to sleep because she's to afraid to wake
But she's gonna find that tomorrow's not such a long ways away
"I'm a thief, and I dig it"
