I ain't gonna grieve no more

I was down at the bottom and I crawled to the top
I saw a woman of the night molesting a cop
I’ve seen madmen and badmen twisting and turning
I’ve seen lovers yearning and young minds learning
On a rocking chair an old man concerning
Himself on the church that’s already burning

I ain’t gonna grieve no more
I ain’t gonna grieve no more
I’ve said it before
I ain’t gonna grieve no more

I was down on my luck and I needed a friend
When I opened my eyes I saw you again
You were busted and gutted, strong-willed not to die
You held on to the reigns that were once held so high
Through your hands you feel the slippage of time
You’re not doing nothing but it’s still considered a crime

I ain’t gonna grieve no more
I ain’t gonna grieve no more
I said it before
I ain’t gonna grieve no more

My knees were shaking I was walking a tightrope
I finally let go of my last strand of hope
I sat there and studied the work of my peers
It was hard to see through the blood stains and tears
I found myself lost in a room full of mirrors
I couldn’t see me but I saw you so clear
"I'm a thief, and I dig it"
