how long must we wait
for this
occupation to end?
how many of children,
how many moms and dads
must be the sacrifice
to your bottom line?

i'm not blind
i don't see an end comin
how many lives have to be wasted?
your reasons are just revolving lies

i don't want to panic
but i
just don't see an end comin
don't just sit on your hands
aren't their lives just as important as yours or mine?

her scars on her pillow
until they
slowly dry
no pictures on the mantle
of a
wife and kids
just memories and a
folded flag
blaming herself, thinkin
he'd still be here if i could afford to send him to state

she said
i don't want to hear you're sorry
i don't need to know that you empathize
your yellow ribbon won't bring back my boy's life
why aren't you screaming?
why do you
sit there and justify
all this madness?
all this loss of life?
please, just stop pretending
that everything's alright
he didn't matter to the president
but he was my life
standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
eager to identify with
someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way
