Poison my body
Poison my lungs
Poison my mind
Drop poisoned bombs
Obey the commands
Get in line
Shut the fuck up
Everything must be destroyed to be liberated
Just deal with it
Don’t get mad at me, it was needed
Not my fault your life isn’t worth as much as mine
Don’t get mad at me, I didn’t vote for him
As if that action alone every accomplished a fucking thing
Don’t blame me, I didn’t do anything
I did nothing, I did nothing, I did nothing
Don’t blame me, I was in the comfort of my safe home
Finding things to take my mind off the mess
I did nothing, I did nothing, I did nothing
I all but ignored the problem outright
Choosing pacification over reaction
I complained to myself and the watercooler
I even said it was a shame
I did nothing, I did nothing, I did nothing
To take the reigns away from those proven they can’t be trusted
To make my voice heard, not even a phone call, a letter, not even an email
To the ones steering the way down the wrong path
Robbing us blind, having a laugh
I did nothing, I did nothing, I did nothing
To stop it
standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
eager to identify with
someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way

  • Okay, ya long-winded, bastid, I'm on these! :D You just have to give me a little time before I can comment. I've printed them out because I want to read them all in a row and get a feel for them before I comment. Damn, long poems/essays are hard to get to at work but I love that people put so much work into 'em!!! :) I'm sure I'll enjoy them because I love your political poetry, Kabong. :)

  • Of all your rough drafts, if I had to pick my favorite, this was it. :) I like how you stressed the "hey, it's not my fault" attitude coupled with the fact that although it's noy "my" fault, I still do nothing to affect change. Thanks for the poems, Kabonger, I enjoyed reading them all. :)
