wrote it today...haven't done anything w/ it yet...

i had a thought again today
that we only have ourselves to blame
thinkin how can you figure
if you don't address it, it'll all just disappear?
and i hope you choke on the lies you swallow
kept safe from all you choose not to see

how can you care so little?
how much can you pretend not to see?
all you portray is your selfish apathy
how do you expect me to trust your sincerity

there was a time you were aware
before you chose to divert your eyes
ignore the obvious
pick a team color
then point your finger and blame the other
pretending your intention is honorable

your pretentious postering and posing gets us nowhere
but further down
your blatant denials
constant justifications
self-imposed ignorance
your selfish fucking denials
are overwhelming me
why should i blieve you when you never cared before?
embracing you is beyond my reality
i just want you to tell me why is it so crazy?
why is it so far beyond doubt?

and it always comes down to you
it all comes down to your greed
it's all that you know
it's all that you breathe
it's the only thing you believe
standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
eager to identify with
someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way

  • There was this poster that used to hang on a young man's wall, it read: "The one who ends up with the most toys wins".

It was supposed to be funny and I suppose for a time, it was, however, now I think, jeez, there are people who believe that shit! That all these material things are the be all end all...and that's not funny, not when you're stepping on others to obtain them.

I feel the frustration in this poem, Kabong. It does always seem to come down to greed, for those of us watching with eyes open, doesn't it? It's like a fucking game of "I'm the king of the castle".

I've said it before and I'll say it again--we have the potential to be beautiful creatures but, for some reason, we choose to repeat the mistakes of our fore fathers. It obviously isn't working. You'd think we'd have learned from their mistakes and would have eventually realized that hate and violence doesn't solve any problem. Obviously, even with all our "advancements", we've not created a better, loving, caring society. If we keep living in fear and fighting wars, then that's all we'll ever have to look forward to. Somehow, some way, the cycle has to be broken, that's plain to see.

"and the men who hold high places, must be the ones who start, to mold a new reality, closer to the heart"

:) Good to see you in here, Kabonger!!! :)

I like this one. It could be about a personal relationship, or it could be an allegory for political attitudes, right now.
  • aww, you booger! you didn't even tell me you had posted anything or were even writing anything for that matter. once again, you make me feel so proud.:D
If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.
