this is about as romantic as I get:

Love Knows What Love Is

It's traffic in the morning
It's a grimy shower floor
It's three pounds gained in one week
It's twelve lies in one day
a faint whiff of sulfur
a coffee stain
It's the same tired face in the mirror everyday
It's a dead battery in a snow storm
It's a no-hitter spoiled in the ninth
It's a corrupt politician
a tone deaf solo artist
a job that kills you a little each day

You need a cool mind and an unaffected spirit
to handle the daily mess of a common day
But you need only a bottle of wine and a decent sitcom
to handle love

be it present or absent.
Jam out with your clam out.

  • I read this one yesterday and had to think about it. It is really real. I like it's depth but have trouble with the conclusion. Rot water and an corporate mind numbing, designed for 8th grader's, canned humor makes a quick shallow love. Share your deeper interests and like the calming effects of deep water on the tide you're connection will handle more situations effectively. Good Poem, I get sick of the obvious in media.

we are cold unaffected spirits, handling sitcoms and bottles, untill we find love, and start loving even the daily mess!
