than a series of openings
more than somewhere
to put yourself

bored
or lonely
or wishing for love of some kind
to fill all the emptiness in you

it has never been a hole in me
which begged for completion
not a gaping orifice
to be penetrated
by your desire's attempt

underestimate me
confuse my kindness for weakness

screw up all

and passion
the vitality begging for release

it isn't so
terrible to be
vulnerable
to be open
to the sweetness

love
truth
beauty in all its purity.

fear

loss

pride
vanity
control

don't fool yourself
into believing
that any of those
matter
that any of those
things can be held
in one's hand
can keep you warm
at night
can keep you safe

malice or understading
in the absence of
reason
logic
reciprocation
in spite of myself
perhaps it
can't be
the way it was
or could have should have would have been
but nonetheless it is

use it
twist it
call it by any other name
that will
bring you comfort
but it is
and despite our best efforts
it hasn't died
will not die
can not die

it is more
than you

and can not
be found where it does not
exist

as the air
its all around us
but its hard to say way where
