    Wow just horrible news....RIP
    Conversations getting dull
There's a constant ringing in my ears
Sense of humor's void and numb
    And I'm bored to tears.......

I've seen this on many DMB sites for a few hours, but it hasn't been confirmed yet so I didn't want to spread it. I'm still hoping that it's been a massive misunderstanding but it's unfortunately being quickly confirmed by more and more sources. Let's hope this is a freak rumor that got way out of proportion, but if not, RIP Leroi and thank you for all of your art over these years.

Also, as of now the show DMB has in a few hours has not been cancelled. I couldn't imagine playing to an arena three hours after the death of a band member and close friend.

"After his first full day of recovery, we're learning that his condition is improving. Dave and Carter spent a few hours at his side this morning, laughing together and talking. He's alert and cracking jokes already. They commented on how much they were heartened and excited after leaving the hospital, knowing that he's going to be alright. Dave announced to the audience tonight "He was beat up real good, but he's going to be fine."

Oops, you're right. I just read that it is due to the ATV accident he had a month ago. Hopefully, these are really only rumors

Unfortunately, more and more people on the DMB boards are confirming from sources that they have that this is the case. The only hope there is is that the concert for tonight has not been cancelled. I couldn't imagine anyone being able to play after something like this, but they might want to in memoriam.

Just read something terrible on his Wiki. I copied it, but will not repeat it here. It was gone by the time I refreshed.

Just some sick person posting about his death.

    Hope he is ok.

There's been some word now that they are not allowing people into the venue. It's looking less and less likely that this is a rumor gone awry.

God, it's unbelievable. Such a talent.

Keeping everyone up to date...people have gotten word that friends going to the show have been let through the doors, so it looks like the show tonight is on.
  • Something is definitely going on because antsmarching.org is down right now. I assume it is overloaded, but that site never goes down. That is really sad if it is true :(
  • TMZ is reporting the death now... details are starting to come out, slowly.

All I have is secondhand...some people on DMB message boards have stated that they recieved calls that people are being let into the venue. I'd say it is worth it to try, considering there is nothing official online saying the show is off. Maybe it's worth putting in a call to the venue before you head off.

If you go, good luck to you also. It's going to be quite something, and I think it shows an incredible amount of professionalism to attempt to put on a show for your audience after something like this.

    Yep, from TMZ....

UPDATE: A rep for the Band just gave TMZ the following statement:
"LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. Moore had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program."

    Jesus.

I think you should try. All the news I've seen and recieved in the past thirty minutes has pointed towards the show going on.
  • TMZ posted that "a rep for the band" gave them an official statement about his death.

Don't know how reliable that is, though.

  • TMZ is pretty spot on with celebrity news :(

Wow I can't even imagine how the boys can perform given the circumstances. It will be an extremely emotional show for all :(
