According to NME via Rolling Stone, Albarn and his British bandmates will perform together the first time in nearly nine years for a headlining show at London’s Hyde Park on July 3, 2009. “It just felt it was right again…It somehow feels like there’s something for us to do again, we’re not completely useless or pointless, we’ve got a reason to exist,” Albarn explained in regards to the reunion.

The frontman went on note that the upcoming performance will not be a one-off, but in fact the first of a series of shows Blur will perform in anticipation of a rumored appearance at the 2009 edition of the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts.

Tickets for the Hyde Park show will be available beginning Thursday, December 11th via the U.K. version of LiveNation.

In addition to a Blur reunion, Albarn is expected to use 2009 to release a new Gorillaz album with longtime partner Jamie Hewlett.

    ...Parklife!

I'm new to Blur, but I think they're cool and hope to see a new CD from them.

    fucking awesome news

damon albarn is a hero of mine...i love all the stuff hes done recently, but the prospect of what he'd do with blur after having his last two projects is very interesting
I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.

    Some die just to live.
  • Yep.. I'm a pretty big blur fan. Looking forward to seeing what they do next. The last album I heard (and it was great) was '13' so it's great to hear there's more progression coming.
