I will never quite get over the fact that after an early 1980's breakup, the ex stole some of my vinyls. Included were: Split Enz - True Colours and The Stones - Some Girls. Does anyone recall what was unique about these two releases? I'm sure it can be googled, but did anyone own these or, better yet, still own them?

some girls vinyl die cut cover contained some TV images, (lucille ball) that they didnt have copyright for. the had to change the cover by removing the images in question, the original is out there and not too $$$. ive seen it for like 17 bucks....still cool trivia though.

  • That's right. From what I remember, the Judy Garland and Marilyn Monroe estates were threatening legal action, so they yanked that particular cover. Interesting that it is so inexpensive because at the time I thought it would be a big collector's item.

As for Split Enz, there was some sort of laser effect on the vinyl itself so when it spun on the turntable, a rainbow of colors would shine at you.
