Yeah I felt compelled to pick up the vinyl as well, since I have all their studio albums and a compilation on vinyl.

They play some of my favorite deeper cuts like Truth Hits Everybody and Hole In My Life. Great!

half way thru the DVD and it is Awesome! I saw them towards the end of their tour in Kansas City so I didn't get to hear them play my favorite song Synchronicity II cause they dropped it from their set. Glad it is on the DVD cause it is a sweet version of it!

Its well worth it. I'm loving some of the arrangements on these songs. For instance...Walking In Your Footsteps...never was all that crazy about it but the version on this is awesome!

I recently got into The Police because of a greatest hits cd. Great band, and Stewart Copeland is a really unique drummer.

edit: $20 for a 2 cd concert, DVD of the concert, and one more DVD with a 50 minute documentary? Hell that is a fucking deal.

(I'll be buying the DVD/CD set soon)

I saw the reunion tour 3 times. I was really hoping for a few other rarities too, like "Does Everyone Stare?" or "Canary In A Coalmine" or "Masoko Tanga". Still, the shows freaking rocked.

I am a long time / old time Police fan..

I heard Andy Summers really re-ingnited his "barn-burner" solos on the new tour..

Does the CD / DVD capture any of those moments?

    If so, what songs?

well i've heard many of the new arrangements and all b/c i did see them 2x for this last tour, jones beach and the final MSG performance. i guess just for my own personal nostalgia, i wanted a DVD of the MSG show. :)

i always refer to the police as 'the pearl jam of my youth'...i was THAT in love with their music! i enjoyed seeing them again live, but i really can't say i love any of the changes moreso than the originals. i might be a purist b/c it was such a sacred part of my youth, idk. i also kinda feel like they are going a bit for the $$$-grab nowadays. granted, they STILL are all amazing, such talent....but yea......

so idk..on the fence. although for $20, probably will just go for it. ;p

The Police were the first band I ever really loved as well. I remember my mom buying me Synchronicity on vinyl when I was 5 years old. Before that I was only really exposed to music she liked. I've been a big fan for 25 years now. Even Sting's solo stuff, though to a much lesser extent (first 3 albums were brilliant). The Police were gone by the time I was 8, so I obviously never got to experience them live. So whether or not the reunion was $$$-driven, doesn't matter to me. Although I don't really think it was. Why would they need it, esp. Gordon? :)

my musical lineage goes like this:

Led Zep > Black Sabbath > The Police > U2/REM > Pearl Jam...

The Police (circa 1979) was where i broke out of my head banging phase.. mostly because of Steward Copeland's drums and Andy Summers guitar...
