Erm. This may have already been covered. Several times.
Yeah, and that's MY Putfile account too, I uploaded that last week and posted it to an Alter Bridge message board, I'd be interested to know if the poster took it from there, or if it spread further......

You're quasi-semi-sorta-famous! On the internets!
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a sense of pride! I just realised my initial post didn't feature any form of exclamation mark, smiley face or raised eyebrow...now I feel like a douche! But seriously, it is weird how quickly stuff spreads online.
Kind of pisses me off when they get lumped in with bands like Nickelback and 3 Doors Down, because these guys have some serious talent. Myles Kennedy is an AMAZING singer - undoubtedly the best live singer I've ever heard.
And in case you're not convinced, here's Myles Kennedy's former band, Mayfield Four (I prefer them to AB) the vocals on this are pretty devastating: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ymMs0bD9w0k

They get lumped in with those bands because its essentially Creed with a different singer, and Creed was huge when those other bands you mentioned were really first getting noticed.
That said, it is an unjust categorization because Alter Bridge stomps all over Creed and the aforementioned bands. I always knew Tremonti was bad-ass and its great to hear them now with a truly talented singer. Both their albums are some of the best new music I've heard in the last five years.

Yeah it might be Creed with a new singer, but it doesn't sound like Creed with a new singer. There are maybe 4 or 5 songs that have a nod in that direction, but the guitar and vocal work are way different on most of their songs.
But yeah, thanks for the support - it's not easy to find on this forum!

Their first single "Open Your Eyes," I hated because it sounded just like Creed. Then I heard "Find the Real" and I knew they were onto something much better. I bought the album and I'm glad I did.

I was the same. I listened to Open Your Eyes out of morbid curiosity (I hated Creed), and whilst I wasn't blown away, I was impressed by the vocals. Then I heard clips of One Day Remains and Find The Real and I was really intrigued. Then I heard the end of Find The Real and I had to pick my jaw up off the floor - even now, after hearing it heaps of times, I'm still blown away by his vocals, absolutely immense.

Yep, and that one song that Edge in WWE uses (forget the name at the moment) really shows off Tremonti's rhythm ability. That song is heavy as hell, and would never fly with Stapp in the band

Probably Metalingus, one of their heaviest songs. It's almost laughable to think that they used to play in a band with someone as shit as Stapp! I've seen them a fair few times live, and they're one of the most consistent bands going - going to see them again next month in fact

They have this song Tie That Binds. The rhythm guitar on that is just insane. It wouldn't sound too out of place on something by a thrash band. I know Tremonti is a huge Metallica fan. Kennedy is a damn fine guitar player in his own right. Stapp was and is a fucking joke!
I always thought about listening to them when they first came out but never did.
However, I just listened to your link of Blackbird, and must admit that that is one hell of a song. Thanks for sharing.
"Would I rather be feared or loved? Um... Easy, both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me." -Michael Scott
Myles is not an amazing singer. He is average. With average lyrics. And an average performance.
Well now, let's see....he has a 4 octave vocal range, very few male singers have a range as wide as that. Just to get you up to speed, other male singers who had this range include, Freddie Mercury and Jeff Buckley. You might not like the tone of his voice, which is fine. You may not think he's a good lyricist, which is fine, since that has no bearing on his vocal abilities. But, as a singer he is capable of doing something most male singer can't which is going from relatively low to insanely high, with a lot of power and he can hold out notes for ages. So as a singer, yes he is pretty damn impressive. Oh, and he can do much of this stuff live too, which I've seen first hand on many occasions.

Yes, it's form that place. I've just register on their message board (exactly yesterday) and found it. And i was curious waht people in here think about it:)
Wow... the world is sooooo small;)

Hey, I just noticed over on Pitchfork that Scream is set to come out the same day as Scott Weiland's solo record, and the American release of Lanegan's Sunday at Devil Dirt. Should make for some interesting comparisons.

OMG!!! Soooo here is somebody who thinks the same as me:))))
Yes, Myles is not soooo original, but - if somebody wants to criticize This Man - first listen to Alter Bridge, then The Mayfield Four and then Citizen Swing. Without these three I will not discuss.
You can find Citizen Swing albums here: http://cid-928b6e96bc3f37f1.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/Music
Shortly - Alter Bridge is a piece of cake, Mayfield Four - I don't know why, but my friend who doesn't listen to PJ said - They are similar (maybe just because it's alternative rock) and Citizen swing - I don't know this kind of music, I haven't listened to that, but wise men wrote this is jazz or r&b music. Anyway - the tunes which Myles takes there are so unpredictable... I love music, which makes me concentrate on it and try to accustom to it.
And one more - listen to the end of Summergirl - the long tune:)
BTW. Ed V. is and will be my best singer ever, I can't compare Myles to Him, and this is good. He's got completely different style.

did you say alter bridge forum?
Yes I did - you know I'm a fan, now hush your beak young Edward!
Great musicians, not the most original music, but it comes from an honest place and they're super nice blokes, so there!
Yeh i think i should actually listen to them?
Where should i start?
Well I love this song, mainly for the vocal performance (wait for the end): http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=SPNxDLSh7WI
Perhaps their best song would be the title song from their last album, Blackbird, it's pretty fucking epic: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yz_j7nVCJJ0

I hadn't seen the video for Sick and Wrong before, pretty damn cool! I do love that song, the lyrics are pure filth!
This song convinced me of Mayfield Four, but not because of lyrics
