Tip: Dont rely on 30 second song clips.

I just got Wilcos Sky Blue Sky just for the hell of it because I know it is popular here. Its pretty amazing. Those stupid 30 second song clips from Itunes or amazon do this cd absolutely no justice. The main reason why I strayed away from this band was because of those clips, I assumed this was just a boring soft rock band. Not quite true at all.

I listened to the samples on amazon.com numerous times and just couldn't understand what people saw in this band. Finally I gave in and started buying the albums. Here we are three years later and they're now my favorite band.
If you enjoyed Sky Blue Sky and you are new to Wilco you should get Summerteeth it is there best cd IMO. After that try out Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Ill try that one next. thanks dude

My favorite by Wilco, though, is A Ghost is Born, followed closely by Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.
AGIB has some amazing tracks -- Spiders, Hell is Chrome, Company in My Back, At Least That's What You Said, Hummingbird -- that MUST be checked out!

Sky Blue Sky is incredible though. "Hate It Here" has the closest representation of Bonham style drum fills I've ever heard from a modern drummer. The fills in Shake it off are also very good...Come to think of it, a good portion of the album has a nice zeppelin vibe to it.

Not sure if you're aware of this, but Wilco started out as a so-called "Alt-Country" band. They've gone through many sounds in the course of their career. Try downloading their first album (AM) and see what you think of that!
It's interesting that you love Sky Blue Sky but disliked YHF and Summerteeth. Most fans tend to take the opposite view.
But to each his (or her) own as they say. I'd just recommend that you don't place too much emphasis on "Heavy Metal Drummer." That song isn't meant to be taken seriously (though I'll admit it's not a favorite of mine either).
