  • Saw them twice, in 2002 and again in 2006. Both excellent shows. The show in 2002 was slighty better because Roger had a cold and his voice was really rough in 2006 and the opening act in 2002 was Robert Plant.

They still put on a hell of a show. Even though Roger had a cold he still nailed the yell in "Won't Get Fooled Again".
"There's a $10,000 bill in it for you."
"Oh yeah? Which president's on it?"
"Uh, all of them. They're having a party. Jimmy Carter's passed out on the couch."

I saw them last year for my birthday in March on their last stop in Hollywood, FL. Roger was suffering from a bad cold which cancelled 2 earlier shows. They put on a great show even though our 2nd level seats were going for $153 a piece.

He still could hit those high notes even though we could tell he was suffering.

I saw them in March 2007 and they were really good, but not classic Who. Same setlist every night and obviously only two original members- no one even pays attention to the other people on stage. You'll enjoy it though.

And I'll be at the Oct 29th show too. I won tix on the radio!

one of my best friends favorite band is the who and I got to see them twice with him. November 2006 in Dallas and then we drove to Oklahoma City to see them March 2007. The show is great. It's a multimedia set up. They have videos and lasers so the stage show is cool. They do record dvds and cds of each show (hopefully they are still doing that). You will have a great show. You will totally see how PJ shows mirror the who in that the performance is great. You can totally see the influence that Pete has on Ed, after seeing both bands. I just talked to my friend, and we are hoping they come through again for some Texas shows.
Ringo starrs kid plays drums (not sure if you know that already, but if you do I apologize for the repetitive info. :o If you see more than one show the set is the same except in OKC they did take out the mini opera from "endless wire" and they did play "The kids are allright" which was cool, cause they didn't play that in Dallas. They also threw a tag of "Magic eye" into something, I wish they had played that song in full. It will be awesome my friend, Awesome. :D

Regarding the Roger was sick in March 2007 is true. For days we watched Pete's blog for news of a cancellation. His voice was a little hoarse when talking to the crowd, but he did totally nail the scream in "won't get fooled again."

Awesome. I'm glad I wasn't getting similar responses with the Dylan thread. And yes, I knew Ringo's son was on the kit. That is another reason why I'd like to see them. I watched VH1 rock honors and I was pretty surprised how "well" he can still sing.

No worries my friend. you are very welcome. I saw Dylan back in 2002 as part of the Houston rodeo. I posted in that thread, but alas, Dylan and the who (though they both kick ass) are two totally different shows. Totally different atmosphere. I don't hail Dylan's live show on my worst list, but it was totaly different and I think I had a better time knowing I didn't have high expectations. Even saying that I hope to see Dylan again at a real show not some rodeo/ festival gig. With him I know what I am in for, but got to see him again if he ever plays here again.

In regards to the who, they kick ass live. Yes, John and Keith are in a higher place, but they are not forgotten. The who show still proves that. I walked away with the sense that I have just seen Ed's idol totally tear it up on guitar and I was even a bigger fan of the who. Sometimes you have to see a band live to just "get it". Well, I can assure you that I would not have seen the who twice, (yet traveled 3 hours) to see them again if I didn't think so. Have a blast bud. It will rock your ass off. :D
