I dunno, Avril's was clearly just a stupid joke - you can hear them laughing. I don't think a jokey cover can count as the worst one. It has to be completely po-faced, and serious, like Celine's abortion up there.
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.
no, I think the worst cover ever would have to be Limp Bizkit doing Behind Blue Eyes..... horrendous
That's exactly what I thought when I read this thread.
Yeah, when the original song sucks, it's hard to crown it the worst cover ever. But Limp Bizkit covering one of the most melodic, beautiful songs by one of the greatest bands ever, that's gotta trump this. What gets me the most is not only does he butcher the verses/chorus, he takes out the one part of the song he could have done a passable job at, the rocking "If my fist clenches..." bridge. And then he has the balls to add a verse. What a tool. And to top it off (from what I read in the hilarious 1 star allmusic.com review of the album) he misspelled Pete Townshend's name in the liner notes.

Don't get me wrong, Fred Durst is a douche, but I doubt he even wrote the liner notes.
'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'
Her version of "Fuel" by Metallica was pretty sad, too. :(
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.
I hate that Werewholf in London/Sweet Home Alabama song too.
I think the worst I've ever heard was Madonna doing American Pie by Don McClean though. That should be outlawed by an act of congress to butcher such a great landmark song...

What the fuck is wrong with her?! That was fucking awful. At least her husband had the good decency to try and re-write a SOAD song

Hated that cover, the Genesis original was the best.
