Wow...what a show...
A week ago there was a thread about sit down shows, and this was my first....
They played a solid two hours and Glen Hansards voice is unbelievable. He played a solo version of Into the Mystic by Van Morrison that was jaw-dropping good. This show had moments where you actually think that you might not see performance that good again...(that was not a joke)
If anyone gets to see them or wants to check them out, all of their shows will be recorded for http://www.playedlastnight.com. THey give out coupons at theirs shows to get a discounted rate.
Check them out if you get a chance since they will be touring for a while and have Iron and Wine with them on select dates.

Cheers,
Adam

Before the movie came out, I saw them perform after a screening.....they did a few such performances.....nice to see their hard work has paid-off.
I've seen the Frames several times...one of the best live bands, IMHO.
I saw one of those screenings too in Boston. Pretty cool.
Frames are amazing, right up there with PJ and Radiohead, its crazy how unknown they are...assuming the tastes of PJ fans, I would guess that 90% of the members on this forum would love them if they took the time to listen.
All it would take is picking up "Setlist" and "For the Birds" and people would be hooked.
If the recording is anywhere close to how it sounded there, this show at Toad's Place would be a great one to try.
My friend drew them while they played. Take a look here:

Any suggestions for a second choice? Did they play any Frames songs at The Meyerhoff? I've been to classical concerts there, so I know the sound would be good.
I wish they got their arses to Europe. and no, I'm not talking 5 lousy shows on weekdays.
actually I wish the Frames played a few shows here. I mean, I like The Swell Season too, they're good. but The Frames... they just have that little something.
Say it to me Now...No Microphone...
I wasnt sure about the setlist...they played Fitzcarraldo and I think one other two other frames songs
2005: Kitchener/Hamilton/Toronto
2006: Toronto 1 & 2
2008: Hartford/EV Toronto 1 & 2
2009: Toronto/Philadelphia 3 & 4
2010: Buffalo
2011: Montreal/Toronto 1 & 2/Hamilton
2013: London/Buffalo/Vancouver/Seattle
2016: Toronto 1 & 2
2022: Hamilton/Toronto
2023: EV Seattle 1&2
During the concert they gave a "shout out" to the guy and asked him to join them on stage for a song. This guy was some kid who was in his teens and this was actually his first concert.
He came down from the balcony while the whole crowd waited. He got on the stage and after some talking, the guy said he wanted to sing the song "Brandy" by the band called Looking Glass (I think?). Apparently this is one of his favorite songs. I think that is kind of random, but cool at the same time.
And he sang it on stage with them as his backing band.
Can you imagine? His first freaking concert. Every other concert this kid goes to is going to be a huge let-down by comparison.
