Shawn just cannot sing. Period.
Makes much more sense, to live in the present tense.

Obviously he can sing, you just don't happen to like him.

Meanwhile, on a more positive note, good news for my fellow Brad fans ....

"In other Pearl Jam news, Seattle band Brad, which features Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard, is expected to play a few local shows in October, according to frontman Shawn Smith's blog.

nope sorry...his voice is shaky, squeeky and flat far too often and he sings through his nose. Maybe voice lessons would help.

That's why I like the sound of his voice. Like someone above me said, Brad are the only side project band I really love.

    Excellent band. So cool!

    LOL

Also, it is obvious the guy can sing. It's your thing if you don't like his style.

I dig Brad a lot! Though i didn't quite enjoy Discovery Park.

you are not the only that thinks Brad sucks. they are just boring. shawn's voice is okay. i have heard him sing with other people, and it didnt bother me too much.

i once fell asleep at a Brad show at the Croc. There is booth seat on the wall to the right of the stage. i just laid down and fell asleep. that is how bored i was.

by the way, hands down, mad season was the best side project.

I like Brad... they are not my favorite band, but I'd definately like to see them live than a hel of a lot of other singers/bands out there.

  • I concur, he has amazing voice.

If it's not your style, that's fine.

I can't wait for a new album. I think it's the finest side project going.

You're just flat out wrong on that one, man. If you personally don't like his voice, fine - but the dude can sing.
  • Shame's easily one of my favourite albums of the 90's and Interiors is a quality follow-up, I haven't heard Discovery Park so I can't comment.

Shawn's voice is great and really distinguishes Brad's sound, also Satchel's EDC album is quality.

So No! Brad certainly don't suck!
  • I've introduced SO many people to the music of Shawn Smith - and only one person has ever said they couldn't get into his voice. So there are a few of you out there, and the guys in white coats are coming to get you!

With that said, the talent of Shawn Smith is so far beyond just being known as being in Stone's side project - he's released so much quality music over the past decade and a half it's ridiculous!
