I'm curious if many folks around here have ever listened to much Waylon (other than the Dukes of Hazzard theme song!). I've turned several of my friends onto his music over the years. His voice is fucking amazing, and his songs just seem to resonate through me. Waylon is really the only country music I listen to. I guess I like the term Outlaw Country for his music better, cause it sure as hell shouldn't be compared to the horseshit that comes out these days. He lived a helluva life, would have died with Buddy Holly if not for giving up his seat to the sick Big Bopper. I guess his music just has a ton of soul to it. The Nashville Rebel 4 disc Box Set is one of the best purchases I have ever made.

Anyways, I'm sure a lot of you have never even heard of Waylon. Just don't get put off it cuz it's called 'country' ;). Give it a listen one day! :D

rest in peace HOSS.

  • i think he's great. I'm kinda into that "outlaw country" stuff to. Probably the last country era that was authentic. All their songs are about drugs, alcohol and picking up hookers. its great!

His son Shooter sounds just like him, too.

haha, I love the way he tells the story in Don't You Think this Outlaw Bits Done Got Out of Hand. They definitely live it up for a while. I've been meaning to listen to more of Shooter's stuff, I missed him the last time or two he came to Atlanta.
