Sounds like jealousy, because those men are incredilby hot and always pushing their style to be completely different.

So for once try and appreciate the differences in people and especially bands vs the carbon copies of everything else that they, the music industry, throws at us. IMO.

Yeah sure, they are really pushing boundaries with their hairstyles and clothes. You do know they likely have a stylist right?

Anyways, I like KOL but I think they try so freakin' hard to have a "cool" image. Its a bit annoying.

Jesus...just listen to Use Somebody when the drums come in on the first verse. Epic!

I know, he's a wicked drummer, not necessarily a show off, but he knows exactly when to really go for it, if you know what I mean. And yeah it is an epic tune, those vocals are spine-chilling.

Haha new style? You realize they didn't even start as a rock band they had a producer come in and tell them what type of music they should play and which image they should have. That's why I can't take this band seriously. They didn't even write a lot of their first songs.
  • thought for once the sound was pretty decent on that stage......sounded good...

Use Somebody is a great love it the first time you hear it song. Tell me it doesn't sound like Coldplay though.
Once in a while you can get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

Yeah and when those original songs were written they were still good God fearing boys - a hell of a lot has changed since then, in case you're not clued in, a lot of drugs and no good ladies! What's more, they've genuinely grown into their own sound and really don't sound like anyone else out there.

i recorded the complete broadcast with my cable box via dvdr. posted a sweet clip on my facebook account. pretty cool stuff. ha.
  • Watched the performance on SNL... I just don't see what the hype is about. I have also owned a couple of their albums and couldn't get into them. Also, to the comment about "they don't sound like anyone else out there..." just watch a few episodes of Subterranean and you will see how false that comment is. The second song they played on SNL sounded like a poor mans version of Coldplay.

I presume the second song they played was Use Somebody? Whilst it may have the same chiming atmospherics (which in fact are far closer to U2), the verses are totally different in style, and vocally he couldn't be further from a whiney Chris Martin if he tried.

Oh, and check this song out from the new record, it's fucking genius - make sure you crank it up nice and loud :D

    Anybody got screen caps?

Caleb with his beard looks so much like my brother. I want to send pics to my mom and freak her out.

My vote goes to Wilco on that, but they were still amazing.

But with Wilco, MMJ, and KOL making appearances in the last year, they seem to be doing their homework, even though they still get mostly crap.

I agree. This song totally resonates with a lot of people. 15 years ago, it would have been a MASSIVE hit. Nowadays, not so much. It is a beautiful song.

I thought the SNL performance wasn't that good. I thought the MMJ performance was light years betters.

It almost looked like they were lip synching the ooh's and aah's on Use Somebody.
    NERDS!
