I'm trying to get together some Christmas ideas for the family. Are there any new (even old) kick-ass music DVDs out there that I'm not aware of.

Please help- thanks!

  • Sigur Ros, Heima.

That's the only music dvd you'll ever need, except for the PJ ones.

Here's a few I think may be good.

    Beatles - Help
Zeppelin - The Song Remails the Same (Remastered)
David Gilmour - Remember that Night (I think that's what it's called)

  • Eric Clapton & Friends - Crossroads Festival 2007 was just recently released. Some of my favorite parts: Clapton & Steve Winwood doing "Presence of the Lord", "Had to Cry Today" and "Can't Find My Way Home"; Winwood doing "Mr. Fantasy"; Clapton and Robbie Robertson doing "Who Do You Love"; Jeff Beck, with some girl who looks to be about 15 years old playing amazing bass.

Wilco, I am trying to break your heart. it is amazing. I have seen it about 20 times and I still love it.
  • Amazing Journey: The Story of The Who http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0462441/
my friend said it is really good

Monterey Pop and Woodstock are both must haves.

I have to second this one. Even my mother (not at all a Wilco fan) enjoyed I Am Trying To Break Your Heart. It's simply a fascinating look into the music industry . . . with one of the best bands in the world providing the music and storyline.
  • I bought the Elton 60th birthday dvd set...the rare old fillers are out of this world good. A great purchase!

The Rolling Stones 'Rock 'N Roll Circus' - 1968
The Stones (Beggar Banquet era)... The Who, The Dirty Mac, Jethro Tull w/Tony Iommi on lead.
You get a glimpse of the greatness in these bands... before they really hit their stride.

  • I just bought AC/DC - Plug Me In (Collector's Edition). It has tons of rare performances and interviews. First disc is from the Bon Scott era, while the second is from the Brian Johnson era. The third disc has some very rare footage, including a performance from 1976 at St. Albans high school in Australia. Great stuff.

I picked up the Tool - Vicarious DVD single at Musicworld for 3 bucks today. The video is totally amazing. This came out awhile now. Totally didn't know anything about it.

For Godsmack, pick up the new CD/DVD Good Times, Bad Times .. the best of Godsmack. Got it for 13.99 at Bestbuy. Killer House of Blues performance on the DVD.

    :)

  • I have recently picked up both the Godsmack "good times bad times" cd/dvd as well as the Wolfmother dvd and I would recommend both. I watched the Godsmack dvd sober and enjoyed it and I got totally drunk while watching Wolfmother the other night and had a blast. I love the 'mother but I don't think I will ever forgive the singer for killing Hunger strike the way he did

It is an entire show and I can't exactly remember which HOB right off....I'm thinking its either New Orleans or Vegas though

EDIT: I checked, it is Vegas....it's worth checking out for my dollar
