Radiohead Basist Lost Hearing For In Rainbows

Radiohead star Colin Greenwood went deaf during the recording of the band's new album - because he used the wrong headphones.

The bassist was devastated to be left temporarily deaf in the studio as the band were busy laying down tracks for In Rainbows, calling it "a fucking nightmare".

He says, "For a few months afterwards I'd be watching the telly and suddenly hear these high pitched whistling noises as more and more high frequencies came back."

But the 38-year-old was ecstatic when his hearing eventually returned: "It doesn't feel like I'm talking to people underwater any more."

    If anything happened to the chemistry of that band, I would be devastated

    that's hella scary. I lost the hearing in one ear for a short while and it really fucks you up. Can't imagine what it would be like for someone who's livelihood depends on it.
