Not many bands impress me the way pearl jam has. That has changed ever since I started to listen to Coheed and Cambria. The first song I heard was Welcome Home. That got me intrigued, so I bought that album. Wow. I have been hooked ever since. I have been fortunate enough to see this band live twice, and both time they have blown me away. Almost close to pearl jam status in stage presence in my opinion. Musically they can do it all, and Claudio Sanchez the lead singer and guitar player is one of the most amazing guitarists I have ever seen. If you have never heard of this band, do yourself a favor and check them out. Here are a few songs to try...

welcome home
ten speed of gods blood and burial
no world for tomorrow
in keeping secrets of silent earth
the end complete

  • their first 2 albums were great but they have been slipping ever since

  • I have to disagree. I think no world for tomorrow is a great album from beginning to end. Yes, it isn't as dark as the others, but musically, it might be there best

Great band. Can't wait to see what they write with Chris Pennie on board...he is the balls.
  • For a band as popular as they are, I was surprised and ecstatic when they came out to meet the fans after the show. I got to talk to Travis, Mic Todd, and Chris Pennie. They are all great guys. Chris told me that he loves playing with Coheed and Cambria and is glad he is on full time with him. Travis is just the nicest guy in the world. Mic signed autographs for the longest time and just talked with us for about an hour. It was awesome. If though they are huge rockstars, it was nice to see they don't let it go to their head.

which are the first two? my brother was getting rid of all his cd's and i took his 3 coheed cd's. i didnt know much about them except that i'd seen a bit of their set at lolla one year and thought it was pretty cool. the earliest album i got (something with a fly on the cover) was by far the weakest. they seemed to get better with later albums, as they went less emo and more prog rock. but it just never really took off with me. the guy's voice was tough to take and some of the lyrics were just too weird. but in all, not a bad band. the music itself was pretty damn good i thought.
    and like that... he's gone.
  • the first album is definitely out there.... i agree.... in keeping secrets is where they really take off... god i love that song... there new album is great, called no world for tomorrow.. You will get use to his voice, I promise. That is awesome that you saw there set at lolla, there shows are amazing.
  • As far as I know Claudio said Coheed is done (since the story is over) but they will create a new entity perhaps. I dont know if they will change the name etc, its not like a break-up but the story of Coheed and Cambria has been told so he doesnt know what else to say in that world (hope this all makes sense) kill band though. Check out the dvd of the last supper, its stellar

  • No, they are not done. They are going to go back even further for their next album. Its official. Can't wait. Also, the last supper is amazing. Love the performance of the Final Cut.
  • Well thats good news. I wonder how a pre-story will go? I feel like the music has progressed so much it will sound strange if it continues like No World esq. style. Lets just hope it isnt all George Lucas making Star War's Phantom etc... haha

  • As creative as Claudio Sanchez is on the guitar and with his lyrics, there is no telling what it will be like. Still, I know it will be amazing .

'the suffering' is an amazing song.
    cool, weird video as well.
and claudio's hair makes me smile :)
  • i'm glad to see them get respect on here...they get alot of unwarranted hate because of the story but Travis and Claudio are at the top of the line as far as guitarists...

    Delirium Trigger
    Time Consumer

pretty much anything off of Second Stage is sick

    As far as stage presence...non-existent
  • Stage presence nonexistent??? Wow, thats kind of harsh. Claudio is a little shy, but I wouldn't say nonexistent. Have you seen them lately. Anyway, we need to get this bands name out. Musically, I don't think anyone can keep up with them. Your right, travis and claudio are hands down 2 of the best guitarists out there right now. Mike Mcready.... watch out.

They're part of the long list of bands that I love the music but the voice kills everything for me. It's just sad.

eh, nonexistent was harsh but there is no banter...just up there playing...HOWEVER, they are fucking sick live and Welcome Home->Final Cut (Jam) is fucking awesome just fucking awesome
  • I love Claudio's voice. It took a while to get used to it, but the more I listened to him, the better it sounded. What does everyone think about there new album no world for tomorrow. I think it is pure genius.
  • two coheed threads within 2 days?
  • You can never get enough Coheed!!!

I listened to some exceprts and thought the music was cool, but I cant stand Geddy Lee, and that's all I could take. I was never able to get over his voice in Rush, even though they are a stellar band. oh well, just my opinion.
