These 2 guys are awesome. I was watching some youtube videos on this band and they are awesome. 2 guys making all that hard rocking noise is pretty cool. They are very bluesy with a rockin edge to them which I really like. Anyone else like the Black Keys?

    I'm a fan.

    From Akron, Ohio. Like LeBron.

    Only not as rich.

    Nor athletic.

At least that's what I'm guessing.

  • Over the top killer band. Just was on "Live At Abby Road" on Sundance. Watched it a few times now. Have been a fan for four years now. I'm going to see them for the 4th time this saturday.

  • In interviews they seem to have a pretty good sense of humor. Joking about everything. Live at Abbey Road was the first time they seemed semi-serious in a interview, but they had their usual comic moments.

The entire story on how they got there name that Patrick told was just fantastic.

I'm off to see these guys for my first time tonight. Missed them twice last year at Roo and Lolla. But tonight should be a blast!

Oh, and their new album rocks!

Been a fan for about five years now and seen then live four times.

I wish PJ would have the Keys open for them next tour. I'd love to see Pat guest drum on a PJ song. That would be wild.

They have 7 albums. I'd say start with their newest one Attack & Release. I love it and I think most would agree it's amazing.

From there I'd recommend Rubber Factory and Thickfreakness.

    The Big Come Up
    Thickfreakness
    Rubber Factory
    Chulahoma (Junior Kimbrough cover album)
    Magic Potion
    Attack and Release

Everyone will say "Rubber Factory". I'd say "Thickfreakness". But I catch myself listening to Attack and Release and the "Chulahoma" album the most.

  • Proud to say I've been a fan for years and have built a complete collection of their b-sides (incl rare 7" releases) and several promos. Such an amazing band.

If you really like the Keys, check out their biggest influence, Junior Kimbrough, on Fat Possum Records...they've covered much of his catalog, spread throughout their albums and the entire Chulahoma EP. The man is unreal and is everything that raw, dirty blues should be.

  • Everyone will say "Rubber Factory".

Well, as a relatively recent fan who just got into them within the last six months or so, I'd have to say Rubber Factory. I'm not sure it's their best (although it's certainly pretty damned good), and it's not even my favorite, but I think that's the best place to start. From there you can work backwards towards the grittier, straight garage blues stuff or forwards towards the more polished, slicker stuff. Either way, you can't really go wrong with the Black Keys.

Junior is killer for sure. After hearing Junior you realize how The Black Keys became who they are.

I saw them in Boston last spring. They were absolutely incredible. High energy and intensity, just flat out powerfull. The only complaint I had was that I wish they had played longer. They only played for about an hour and twenty minutes. Still worth every penny though.
