Anyone get Nick Drake's "FamilyTree"? Couldn't see an existing thread anywhere and I know Eddie is a fan. :) It's basically the demos remastered nicely plus some extra stuff.

Reviewed it here:

Listen to "Ride" (Pink Moon) and tell me if it's not a song that could sung by eddie...

  • I'll say it: it's a ripoff. Most of the material has been banging about for years, and the re-mastering hasn't made much of an improvement. The Molly Drake compositions are interesting, but not worth forking out money for, unless you're a completist.
  • Here's a nice bit of rare Nick, playing guitar behind Vivian Fowler on vocals, for a version of Shakespeare's "Full Fathom Five" from "The Tempest". The track featured on the children's educational music LP "Interplay One", probably recorded around the time of "Bryter Layter" but not released until 1972:

  • Didn't know eddie was a fan of Nick's. Too bad Nick couldn't have stuck around a little longer. Only a couple great albums to remember him by.
"Everyone is a patriot in some form or another.... i prefer the intelligent ones."

    "She fell funny"

"Klaus Daimler, 40, engineer, calm, collected, German"

Thanks for that, nice. I've always loved that song, however they set it. :)

  • What do you think of your countryman, John Martyn? For me, he's the guv'nor. There are apparently tapes of Nick playing with Beverley Martyn, still in the vaults. Now that would be interesting to hear!

My husband's very into his stuff. I first listened to "Solid Air" because it was about Mr Drake, but I do like quite a lot of his stuff now.
