Is it OK to store a poster rolled up in a tube?

Or should it be stored flat if possible? Have one I am waiting to frame, and it's been in the tube. Wondering if I should store it flat until I get a frame?

  • its ok to keep them in a tube for a short period of time but eventually it will cause roll bends. generally you want to have them stored flat.
    {if (work != 0) {
    work = work + 1;
    sleep = sleep - work * 10;}
    else if (work >= 0) {

    work = work +1;
    }system("pause");
    return 0;}
  • I just bought a Klausen Toronto 06 offf ebay and the poster was in the tube since they bought it in 06 I've been flatting for awhile and it still wants to roll. Later Yostarama

    shitty i also had a bunch in a tube for just under 2 years and the roll never really goes i think because they still curl at the ends, its not a big deal but i wouldnt recommend having them in a tube for more then 3-6 months if you can avoid it.

    all you need is one of these:

    and a pack of acid-free craft paper.

    Put each poster inside the science fair board and in between each poster, put a piece of acid-free craft paper- then close the two sides over it. It's SUPER cheap and keeps your posters in mint condition :)

    most framing places have ways to flatten posters that have slight permanent rolls in them. if you are having a place frame it they should be able to do this and frame it perfectly.

  • yeah what lukin fan said, i did almost that,instead of a portfolio book, i bought a 20 dollar hard cover book and a big roll of acid free tissue paper and then 2 pieces of corrugated cardboard like craft paper(acid free as well) and then put either piece of cardboard on both inside covers of the book and layered the posters between the tissue paper, cheap and effective.

    Its too bad there are no Michaels stores anywhere near me. Any Canadians know of any other store that has those...preferably in larger sizes.

  • I have another question related to this thread topic:

    Is it harmful to a poster that has been stored flat (or in a frame) for years to be rolled up, packed, and shipped for days at a time?

    I've always been curious about this, especially for posters that are more than a decade old. Let alone a quarter-century or older. Can the ink or paper be adversely affected?

    Exactly what I do, works perfectly.
