You know what I'm most surprised and impressed with so far with these responses?
No Kurt Cobain!
For the record I didn't mind him all that much, but I think this just shows that he was ridiculously overrated as both a vocalist and guitarist and that being an "influence" on a generation or whatever can sometimes supercede actual talent.
Oh yeah...he wailed. I heard he did some session work on AC/DC's Highway to Hell...even stood in for Malcolm Young when Malc checked into the Betty Ford Center.

I remember that tour.....Jerry rocked Hells Bells.............:)
Hendrix is a must no matter what player line up is made, i'd like to add Bob Marley in vocals..that would be a very interesting musical encounter since nobody talked about what kind of musical they would be playing (and this means not necessarily reggae).
piano: mozart and beethoven..
drum: keith moon and jon bonham..
guitars: hendrix, rhoads, dimebag..
bass: cliff burton..need more bass
vocals: jim morrison, janis..
trumpet: the dude with big inflated cheeks..haha
in the future when hes RIP, bass: steve harris..iron maiden
Vocal: Michael Hutchense
Guitar: Dimebag Darrel

If Michael Hutchense can't perform, either Freddy Mercury, Joe Strummer or George Harrison.
I saw a few of the people listed throughout this thread. John Entwistle and Dimebag were both incredible live. Shannon Hoon, God rest his soul, didn't impress me.
I love my female wife...
we sit around and wonder exactly why our marriage should feel threatened by gay marriage

I know it's going outside of the genre but how about Gene Krupa on drums?
