you need to relax and not hijack this thread, the hip fucking rule
I don't recall saying otherwise, I'm just trying to promote every user's right to voice an opinion without being jumped on and insulted. It is a DISCUSSION board after all.

The moment you convince me that I'm in the wrong here, I'd be happy to fuck off.

I don't recall you having any claim on this thread. At worst, my "hijacking" will result in it being locked which should be fine by you of course, what with it being "retarded". If that happens, I'll just be saddened that my attempts to stop this board from becoming a stagnant shithole of insults and petty flamefests have been ignored.

In order to promote thread integrity, I disagree with both the OP and those who want to crucify him. I am ambivalent about the Hip. Nautical Disaster really is an awesome song though.

dude, relax. you weren't even the one who was insulted. let the mods or the other two people to deal with it. you voiced your opinion, but just let it go.

anyway, I'm listening to Evolution now- it's a solid album.

You are of course right, it's not worth it.

get over it people, i am sorry for saying that, okay.

i just love the hip, and he suckered me into a rash response.

Don't sweat it ... My initial reaction was pretty similar ...

I have listened to their entire catalog several times and have noticed that every song except the following are total bullshit:

    Opiated
    Little Bones
    Fiddlers Green
    On the Verge
    Fight
    Fully Completely
    Wheat Kings
    Grace, Too
    Greasy Jungle
    Fire In The Hole
    So Hard Done By
    Coconut Cream (haha)
    Poets
    Bobcaygeon
    Silver Jet
    Summer's Killing Us
    Lonely End of The Rink

Most of those songs are freaking incredible... I could easily do without EVERY other song made by the hip... They suck otherwise... They make so much filler in every album. Its a damn shame.

Out of all their albums I'd say Day for Night is their most consistent work and it stil has got a lot of crap in it (Thugs, Scared, an Inch an Hour, Emergency)

i dont get this man. i mean honestly, just dont get it. those aren't really their hits... those are album tracks. i can totally understand how someone might not dig the hip, they're kinda eccentric. i can understand loving them too (cos i do). i can understand thinking they're good but with an inconsistent catalogue.

but i cannot understand these extremes. how the entire rest of their catalogue is AWFUL but those songs are AWESOME. makes no sense. esp because that's a really weird selection of songs to draw the line on. esp when you must have listened to ALL of their albums to find those songs. why do you keep bothering if you think their albums suck so bad? shit man, i'll burn that cd for you and you can toss the albums and not have to buy anymore god-awful hip albums. deal?
    and like that... he's gone.

That album features four of the greatest songs the Hip have ever written:

It's a Good Life if You Don't Weaken
    The Dire Wolf
    Leave
    The Dark Canuck
"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."
