Ok... so lately I have been really searching for good new music, and in the last week I have found next to nothing, only getting LCD Soundsystem - Sounds of Silver, and Drive-By Truckers - A Blessing and a curse. Neither of them were amazing.

I want more music like the following (please base your recommendations on them) -

- Dr. Dog - We All Belong
- Cold War Kids - Robbers and Cowards
- Iron & Wine - The Shepard's Dog
- Pinback - Autumn of the Seraphs
- Brendon Benson - The Alternative to Love
- Built to Spill - Keep it Like A Secret
- Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
- Neutral Milk Hotel - In an Aeroplane Over The Sea
- The Decemberists - The Crane Wife
- The Shins - Wincing The Night Away
- The Weakerthans - Reunion Tour
- Wintersleep - Welcome to the Night Sky

Don't Recommend -

- Nothing The National
- Nothing Radiohead
- Nothing Arcade Fire
- Nothing any of the ones I listed

As you can see I like a lot of Indie, I like really catchy, yet calmer Indie. Something that gets stuck in my head is good. Try to list more obscure bands because I might have already checked out the one your thinking of. Also, Just pick the best album by the band, not the whole band.

Thanks a lot

Yeah I have checked out that one before, I kinda didn't get it... his voice is like a bunch of mellow slop, I can never understand what hes saying and I didn't think any of the songs were catchy, but thanks anyway.

    psychadelic stoner rock.
  • ever hear of the Black Keys? it seems everytime one of these threads pop up, I recommend them and the person totally digs it. They're a two-piece blues-rock band reminiscent of 70's garage rock. Awesome stuff. Check out the albums Magic Potion and Rubber Factory.

Grace by Jeff Buckley is my favorite album ever. Great call.

Try Diorama by Silverchair...one of the most underrated albums ever.

btw I thought Sound of Silver was amazing. I can honestly say All My Friends is one of the best songs i have EVER heard.

(edit) sorry i didn't see that you said indy...i missed 3/4 of your post apparently. still get diorama though! great album.

Glad to see you're enjoying Dr. Dog.

Maybe try Broken Social Scene? I've only heard a few songs, but I get the idea they might be in the vein of what you're looking for. I plan on giving one of their albums a try soon (obviously I can't suggest one in particular yet).

The Trials of Van Occupanther by Midlake is great album, though maybe not as upbeat as what you want. Still highly recommended.

    psychadelic stoner rock.

Great cd, I just got the new one over the weekend and like what I have heard so far.

Howlin Rain's self-titled first album is great. Probably my favorite album of '06.
