Do you mean 'genre indie' or indie in the sense of a band on a small/independent label (the correct definition)? If the former, I would say Arcade Fire and Cold War Kids. If the latter, I would say the best indie bands out there are probably Wintersleep, Oceansize and Queen Adreena.
'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'
"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."
Ah, well then I'd say Arcade Fire and Cold War Kids.
I have an intense, passionate hatred for the invasion of 'The' bands in the British Isles at the moment.

Good choice, for some reason I was thinking of current Indie artists. Well for me the greatest Indie band ever was The Replacements....See my sig....lol
But then they signed with a major record label so the second half of their career I guess they weren't Indie?

sweet smell that they adore

I guess a lot of people call Wilco indie (even though they're not), so I'll have to pick them seeing as they're my overall favorite band, indie or not.

I have to go with The Anniversary because I'd miss them the most if I had to give up an indie band.
