Has Anyone Heard From Jack Irons?

He was first a member of the Chili Peppers (but only on the album The Uplift Mofo Party Plan, although he was with them since before their first album), and then he was a member of Pearl Jam (albums Vitalogy through Yield), and then he seemed to have disappeared. Does anyone know if he still plays in any band? I'm curious to know, being that RHCP and Pearl Jam are my 2 favorite bands of all time.

Thanks!

Dave A. played the drums on Vitalogy. Jack only played on No Code and Yield.

he did put out the "Attention Dimensions" disc a few years back. An okay listen, with a badass version of Pink Floyd Shine On You razy Diamond (With Ed singing, of course)
Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)

He has drummed with the band Eleven since then, appears on four of their albums I think, Eleven features Alain Johannes and Natasha Schneider who currently are apart of QOTSA and also worked on Euphoria Morning with Chris Cornell, Jack also released the solo album Attention Dimension a couple of years ago.
Eleven are well worth checking out especially the album Thunk which is half drummed by Jack and the other songs are drummed by Matt Cameron.

  • My copy of Vitalogy and artistdirect.com says that Jack Irons played (as well as Dave).

Oh, wait. My copy says he only played the drums on Hey Foxymophandlemama, that's me. But still.

Thanks for the information! I'll be sure to check out Eleven, as well as the Pink Floyd cover.

....and Mirrorball, which has some of his best drumming in my opinion. Yes, I know it's not technically a PJ album, but it's worth mentioning.

I actually really hate his version of Shine On.

I hated it for awhile too, but it grew on me, and now i love it. It was hard though, because that is my favorite Pink Floyd tune, and Jacks version is very different.

Yea, its definitely one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs, so maybe that's it.

Listening to the Shine On... version by Jack really makes me miss his drumming...he was the best drummer for PJ in my opinion followed closely by Matt.

*on a side note I have this really cool button that PJ handed out at Jack's first PJ show that has his picture on the front and says "Jack Irons for president!"
