Title pretty much says it all, trying to find gems I've never heard and also stuff I maybe haven't listened to on headphones yet that I already have...

Looking for Non-Pearl Jam albums

my picks for best headphone albums(other than Binaural) are NIN-Downward Spiral and Broken and TOOL-Anema

fire away!

Hey, is this picture disc good quality? I've heard picture discs can be inferior.

As long as it's 180 g's or better it's all good!

Do Make Say Think - & Yet & Yet
    Radiohead - Amnesiac
    Beck - The Information
    Pinback - Summer in Abaddon
    NIN - The Fragile
RHCp - Stadium Arcadium (so good in phones - John rips it on this disc but it's very underrated by "legitimate" music folk)

Anything sounds better in headphones i'm thinking. Unless you're booming the bass party style
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”

Yeah, I got my copy thru the fan club but I believe there's no difference in the quality. They were all picture discs 180g sounds great.
    the Minions
  • Massive Attack - Mezzanine
You can't spell "dumb" without DMB

Cool, I'm going to get it. Thanks. I wish Ænima was more readily available.

The No Code lp is big, doesn't fit in usual poly sleeves. Mine is a bit warped but still sounds great.

as other(s) have said, dark side of the moon is amazing on headphones. tool's lateralus and ænema also work very well.

  • Sigur Ros, Takk.. tried and tested.
'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

    - the great Sir Leo Harrison
  • DMB- Before These Crowded Streets
  • Some mentioned above that i have to give a nod to:

No Code - PJ (though i give a personal nod to Vitalogy vinyl!)
    Up - REM
    Downward Spiral - NIN

All albums that sound just absolutely phenomenal on vinyl with headphones!

    AND THEN
    This may be weird, but

APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION - Guns N Roses

Their is some guitar work on that album, that if you litsen to on vinyl with headphones just comes at you like crazy.

I spent a summer when i was sixteen getting doped up on crazy nug topped with lots of way-too-good opium and then crashing out on a mattress with no frame ... listening primarily to Appetite on vinyl through headphones ...

man ... i can't tell you ... it was probably my "formative" age and the aural manipulation of the substances ... but that shit sticks in my head. I swear you can hear like 3 or 4 guitar parts in a lot of that stuff if you listen.

(also, on the subject of vinyl - and not necessarily headphones - Led Zeppelin III is ridiculously creamy. Mmm)
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?
  • Definitely Tool's Lateralus...many many subtleties that you can really only hear on headphones.

Yes, i think we're both stating the obvious:)

I could list hundreds... my job involves logging in at half 6 in the morning, slapping on the headphones, putting 10,000 songs on random and not removing them til I leave at 3... i'm a lucky gal
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
  • Also... forgot my 'album of the moment':

Dax Riggs - We Sing of Only Blood or Love

EVERYONE should by this album and listen to it on headphones IMO, his voice is hypnotic... very Bowie-esque :D

Actually, listen to anything connected to Dax Riggs on headphones. Acidbath, Deadboy and The Elephantmen, Agents of Oblivion, his solo stuff... his voice is simply stunning.
